This Glossary project is initiated by the DAW team. Currently, there is a TIS (Translation Information System, http://tis.us.tzuchi.org/english/) that provides a simple-to-use interface as people want to translate Tzu Chi Chinese words into proper English words. The system can be thought as an official dictionary that offers references for all translators at Tzu Chi who want to translate Chinese words and phrases into English.

Currently, the TIS is run with backend of MS Access and frontend of PHP codes. The initial thinking is to utilize Drupal framework which already covers frontends and backends. And we just have to build a scheme to do bulk export/import from existing MS Access database later.

  • States: There are three states associated with each glossary entry.

    States

    Name	Meaning
    Draft	This is the state when Glossary Content User creates initial glossary entries. Subsequent changes can be done by Glossary Content User with the state staying at "Draft". Contents are not published in this state.
    Review	This is the state when the glossary entries are under the reviewing process by Glossary Review User. Contents are not published in this state.
    Publish	Contents are reviewed and approved by Glossary Review User. Contents are published in this state.
